How to combine several documents into one PDF for an application
Job, visa and college applications often ask for everything in one PDF: your ID, CV, transcripts and certificates. If your documents are separate files, you need to join them before you can upload.
Steps
- Open Merge PDF.
- Add your PDFs. You can choose several at once, or add more afterwards.
- Put them in the order the application asks for. Use the up and down buttons on each file, or drag the rows. Nothing is joined until you press the merge button.
- Press Merge, then download the combined file.
Before you merge
- Check the order the form wants. Many say ID first, then qualifications.
- Photos are not PDFs. Turn them into PDFs first with Image to PDF.
- Fix sideways pages first with Rotate PDF.
If the result is too big
Merging adds the files’ sizes together. If the form has a limit, run the combined file through Compress PDF and pick your limit.
Is it private?
Yes. The files are joined in your browser and are never uploaded. You can check this yourself.
Common questions
Is there a limit on how many files I can join?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files depend on your device’s memory.
Does it keep the quality?
Yes. Merging does not re-compress the pages, so they look the same as the originals.
