How it works

Adding page numbers stamps a sequential "X / Total" label at the bottom of every page, which is especially useful for longer documents like reports, contracts, or manuscripts where readers need to reference specific pages.

How to use it

  1. Choose your PDF — The tool reads the total page count.
  2. Numbering is added automatically — No settings to configure.
  3. Download your numbered file — Every page gets its own "X / Total" label.

Common questions

Can I choose where the page numbers appear?

Currently numbers are placed at the bottom-center of each page, the most common convention for printed and digital documents.

Can I start numbering from a page other than 1?

Not currently — numbering always starts at 1 on the first page of the document you upload.

Will this work if my PDF already has page numbers?

Yes, but the new numbers are added on top of the page rather than replacing any existing printed numbers, so check for overlap first.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool processes your file directly in your browser. It is never sent to a server, stored, or seen by anyone.

Is there a file size or daily limit?

No daily limit. Very large files (roughly 100MB+) may be slow since everything runs on your own device's memory rather than a server.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every tool on this site is free and requires no sign-up.
